My History
I graduated from the clinical social work program through Walla Walla University. During this time I sought out to understand the therapeutic relationship through hours of observing and being in therapy myself. I completed my hours of practicum working within the Department of Corrections for Missoula County. I was supervised by Jenna Marceau, LCSW during my time in corrections and am currently supervised by Sam and Leah Ore, LCSW.
What might therapy look like with me?
My primary training has been in EMDR and various trauma techniques. EMDR is designed to help relieve symptoms associated with PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, panic attacks, phobias, performance anxiety and many other maladaptive life responses. I believe in the importance of “reading the room” and client-informed treatment. My goal is to work along side you during your healing journey, not in front of you. Meaning; you are the expert of yourself and if what we are currently working on doesn’t seem to be a good fit - let’s work together to find something that does work.
Get to know me
My home base is Missoula, Montana on Bitterroot Salish land. Here, I enjoy being a part of the music and healing communities. I grew up in Kalispell, Montana and have explored many pockets of the world. I continue to value traveling so you may not find me in Montana at the moment you’re reading these words.
Travel, music, and understanding the self has shaped my worldview. I grew up in a musical household with jam sessions happening regularly and traveling to music festivals from an early age. I started piano lessons at the age of three and voice lessons in second grade. Music continued to shape my world throughout my undergrad. I have found it to be a great teacher of experiencing vulnerability on stage and a practitioner for active listening. After my undergrad I found my place producing music shows and working in the entertainment industry in Montana. That work was the catalyst in helping me to cofound the non-profit Montana Area Music Association, which helps up and coming musicians in our state.
I tend to be an optimistic person with big, deep thoughts which transfers to the way I view people. I find solace in humor while trying to assess where that humors intention lies.
I believe we need to give credit where credit is due. My bio parents were my teachers of genuine kindness. My mentors and supervisors gave me life and taught me to believe in my abilities. My step dad taught me to think critically and to appreciate science.
I’m grateful you stumbled on my page and I look forward to getting to know you!
